Welcome to American Society for Public Administration (ASPA) Section on Transportation Policy and Administration (STPA). I encourage you to explore this site and learn about the many opportunities that STPA provides. ASPA-STPA focuses on topics of public administration and public policy related to all modes of transportation. Annually, STPA supports a panel on transportation policy and administration at the ASPA conference, and grants two awards including the best student paper award.
The section proposes a paper presentation panel each year at ASPA and supports a peer-reviewed journal: Public Works Management & Policy (PWMP). Additionally, STPA members receive complementary E-access. Check out our Facebook group as well. We welcome you to join the section and become an active STPA member!

Section Goal
The goal of the Section on Transportation Policy and Administration (STPA) is to organize a focus on transportation. STPA spotlights transportation within ASPA at a national, regional, and chapter level. The section similarly develops information to assist federal, state, and local policymakers, so that they might better administer transportation policy. Members receive the section-sponsored quarterly journal - Public Works Management and Policy - the section's electronic newsletter, as well as special studies and reports.
Section History
The Section on Transportation Policy and Administration (STPA) of the American Society for Public Administration was chartered in 1992 as an organization dedicated to bringing together scholars, practitioners, and students interested in the role played by transportation in society. Section Awards
Two awards are given away each year by STPA: Best Student Paper and the Truitt-Felbinger Award, both of which are awarded at the annual ASPA Convention. To learn more about these awards, please visit the Section Awards tab of our website.
